While most experiences at The Barley Mow are positive, some patrons have noted longer wait times during peak hours, especially on busy Saturday evenings. It can also get a bit noisy when large groups gather, which some find distracting. Additionally, there are occasional complaints about limited seating during lunch hours, as those keen on dining might need to arrive right when it opens or face a wait. Lastly, while many enjoy the casual atmosphere, others may desire a more formal dining experience.
I really nice local pub, with fine beer, and excellent menu (nice food too) and great places to sit and a playground almost next door for the kids. All on all, it's a good place to chill with friends or take a break alone.
Booked a table in advance for Sunday lunch as this is usually fully booked by the weekend. A good range of food was on offer but we skipped the starters to get cracking into the mains. We had the pork which came with apple sauce and crackling, plus a choice of other sauces too. The pork was wonderfully cooked, the leek cheese, roasted courgette and peppers were a great new taste that complimented the traditional roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The kids had chicken which was more than enough, neither child wanted pudding which is unheard of! For dessert I had mixed berry bread and butter pudding and cream, which was full of flavour. I couldn't recommend this Sunday lunch more. The best in Cambridgeshire so far.
We were a party of 10 celebrating joint 90th and 99th family birthdays for Sunday lunch. Nothing can be faulted at this fantastic pub from the excellent service to the piping hot food served promptly even though there was another very large celebration being catered for in the function room. A 'Happy Birthday' banner and balloons had been put across the back of our table and the fact that we took our own cakes was accommodated without question, photo's taken and birthday greeting sung by the staff who even facilitated moving tables in the garden to allow us to park closer to the entrance for ease of the occupants of the car. A truly outstanding pub!
Excellent meal lunch off special board, chicken and leek lasagna, tasted amazing, great value served with a smile thank you
